Skeleton Skinny Selvedge Denim back in stock for Fall 14!

September 17, 2014

Ok, so we know its been a while since these have been available on the site which is why we are so damn excited to crow about them. The Skeleton is a skinny jean in the truest sense. This is not a Slim Fit simply sized up one size - the fit was engineered for those of us that were blessed with the leanest of frames - specifically in the seat, thigh & knee that finishes to one of the narrowest bottom openings available anywhere! Check out the size specs here. There are 5 unique weights and finishes all from Cone Mills starting @ 14oz all the way up to the heavies at 16.5oz (c'mon we dare you to break these in). Oh yeah did we mention that prices started at a ridiculous $79. Yep, there are plenty of typo's on our site but the price ain't one of them. BOOM...

BORN IN THE USA

Thanks to the folks over at Men's Journal for bringing the good news to the uninitiated that investing in a top quality, American Made, raw selvedge denim jacket doesn't have to cost a small fortune.

The Ironside 14oz Selvedge Denim Jacket

Fourteen ounces is a heavier weight for denim lovers who truly enjoy a lengthy break-in period. But that extra heft is worth the work out and the less polished look of the the non-gassed fabric will only get better with age. The jacket was designed with a straight fit and sleeves that move better than most, so you won’t feel tied down while you’re breaking it in.

SOME THINGS ARE BETTER LEFT UNFINISHED

September 28, 2017

Thanks once again to The Denim Hound for featuring and reviewing our new Cone Mills unfinished 14oz in the Regular Taper fit.

Fit: Regular Taper. A roomy top block and thighs with a strong taper down the leg.

Measurements (size 32): Waist 35″, rise 10.5″, back rise 15.2″, hip 19″, seat 19.6″, thigh 12″, knee 8.25″, hem 6.7″, inseam 37″. 1.5″ shrinkage on the waistband, 2″ on the inseam.

Fabric: 14oz 100% cotton, unfinished/un-singed sanforized selvedge denim from Cone Mills, White Oak. Right hand twill with a greycast to the indigo warp and white weft. This has to be one of the most character rich Cone denims I have ever seen. Very hairy with a good amount of nep. This denim also has very small, sporadic slub yarns in the warp and weft. It feels almost like an unsanforized denim. Cone denim usually has a tight weave using high tension yarns. This denim however, has a looser than usual weave, with medium tension yarns.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR JEANS/SIZING CHART

How to correctly measure your jeans

Waist Measure:

Lay the jeans on a flat surface. Flatten the waistband by pressing out any wrinkles or kinks with your hands. Pull the front waistband up parallel with the back waistband and measure across the top from edge to edge. This edge to edge measurement will give you a half measure which is what we have listed below in our sizing chart. A full measure can be obtained by doubling the flat measurement number for e.g. 16.75 inches x 2 = 33.5 inches.

Measuring your selvedge denim jeans

Low Hip:

This is an important point of measure for low hips and seat. Flatten down the hips so no wrinkle or kinks remain.

Next, measure 6 inches down from the bottom of the waistband at the side seam. Mark with your finger or light colored pencil.

Measure at a slight downward angle just below the J stitch and then across the opposite side going up at the same slight angle. A picture is worth a thousand words so here it is.

Thigh:

Most folks get this wrong, thats ok this is how you get the correct measure. Measure one inch down from the midpoint between the double needle stitch of the front rise. Mark with your finger or light colored pencil.

Measure across at a slightly upward angle following the natural pitch of the thigh panel.

INSEAM:

Measure from the same midpoint of the double needle at the top where the thigh and crotch meet. Walk the tape measure down the contour of the inseam along the stitch to the edge of the hem.

BRAVE STAR SIZING CHART:

Please allow for a +/- 1/4" tolerance (flat measure) in the waistband vs listed spec.

All measurements are flat measurements. For full measure double the number listed, for eg size 32 waist = 17.25 inches flat x 2 = 34.5 all the way around.

PLEASE NOTE: WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU MEASURE YOUR ACTUAL WAIST (MEASURED APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES BELOW YOUR NAVEL) AND PURCHASE A WAISTBAND MEASUREMENT 1" LESS THAN YOUR ACTUAL WAIST.

FOR EXAMPLE, IN THE FIT PICS ON THE WEBSITE THE FIT MODELS ACTUAL WAIST MEASURES 34.5 INCHES AND WEARS A SIZE 31 (33.5 INCHES) IN BRAVE STAR.
