Sewn Where It All Began
Jeans were invented in California for the pioneers, miners, cowboys and hardworking blue-collar backbone of America. That legacy deserves to be honored, not outsourced. Every Brave Star jean is cut, sewn, and finished in Los Angeles, the same state where denim workwear was born. We believe authenticity matters, and true American denim should be made on home soil. Some things deserve to be made in America.
Keeping a Dying Craft Alive
American denim manufacturing is on its last legs. Decades of outsourcing have gutted this industry, leaving only a handful of skilled makers still standing. We’re doing our damndest to keep it alive—partnering with local production houses, supporting the last of the craftsmen, and making sure the money stays where it belongs: here, in the community. If we don’t fight for this, it’s gone.
The Legacy Lives On
American denim mills have been phased out, another casualty of outsourcing. But the tradition isn’t completely lost. We source our denim from Japan’s finest mills, where craftsmen still weave on vintage shuttle looms, preserving the quality and character that American mills once prided themselves on a century ago. When available, we also incorporate deadstock Cone Mills, North Carolina selvage, keeping a piece of American denim history alive in every pair.
The Fight to Keep It Made Here
Competing in American manufacturing isn’t easy. We pay the highest labor wages in the world and navigate relentless state regulations, all while going up against brands that have long since taken the easy way out. Yet, against all odds, we still manage to produce world-class denim at a more than fair price. But none of this would be possible without you.
