The Panhead Jacket is based on the Type 1 first introduced in 1905 and is generally considered to be the first denim jacket. This style featured a single chest pocket and a adjustable buckle back. Chest pleats were also a feature. We've stayed as true to the original styling and fit as possible but have taken liberty with small details such as the crows foot bar tack on the chest pleats and the interior pocket bags which we imported from our now retired Badlands Type II jacket. Shorter and boxier with a generous fit in the chest, shoulders and arms the Panhead satisfies the denimhead looking for a more traditional heritage style jacket.

Fabric

When the original buckle back denims first saw production in the early 1900's they were woven with a 2x1 weave and weighed in at 8oz - 10oz. Cone Mills produced a majority of these denims from 1895 onwards so we are pumped to issue this drop from Cone dead stock that we have had in storage for some time now. This particular quality is a reissue of one of those original weaves. The shade is in the mid blue indigo range which was common for workwear from this era. The selvage is plain white, which predates the introduction of color ID tickers in the 1930s.
