Die Hard 14oz Indigo Herringbone Japan Selvage Denim
$138.00
Our newest selvage is a superb indigo herringbone weave. This is one of the most techinical and difficult weaves to master due to the precise nature of the loom setup. The pattern is achieved by reversing the direction of the twill weave at regular intervals, creating a zigzag effect. To create a herringbone pattern, the weft thread (horizontal) goes over and under two or more warp threads (vertical) in a repeated sequence. This sequence is then inverted every few threads, creating the characteristic zigzag. The loom must be precisely set up to ensure that the inversion of the twill direction happens at the correct intervals, which requires careful planning and a skilled hand. The herringbone weave results in a fabric that has a distinctive, textured feel, with a raised structure that is tactile and visually engaging. This weave is known for its durability and strength, making it suitable for high-quality work wear denim garments that are meant to last.
