This style is commonly known as the 'Type 2' jacket. It was first introduced in 1953 and was ubiquitous by the time it played a starring role in the seminal Terrence Malick film 'Badlands' featuring a very cool Martin Sheen channeling his inner James Dean. Slightly longer and less boxy than its predecessor, the 'Type 1', it cut a modern yet timeless silhouette that has continued to endure to this day. We've reinforced the seams with a triple stitch flat felled lock seam and made it more practical by adding two interior pockets for your everyday carry. A single box pleat with bartack stitch detail in back.
The Badlands jacket is exclusively Made In The USA from US sourced selvage denim and hardware thus honoring the heritage of the original style.

As availability of Cone Mills selvage denim dwindles due to the shuttering of the White Oak plant over three years ago we're finding it increasingly difficult to find stock. Fortunately, we stock piled quite a large quantity over these past few years and are able to dip into our backstock and offer qualities that are increasingly rare to find. This quality is one of them. At a solid 15.75oz with a saturated green cast indigo and a tight slub yarn on the face, this selvage will age and fade like no other. That's the beauty of raw denim - no two qualities are ever the same. A blood red orange iD adds a fantastic pop of color.
Size down for a shorter, boxier fit or true to size for a regular fit. Based on our Ironside pattern block and specs out to the same measurements.
