This style is commonly known as the 'Type 2' jacket. It was first introduced in 1953 and was ubiquitous by the time it played a starring role in the seminal Terrence Malick film 'Badlands' featuring a very cool Martin Sheen channeling his inner James Dean. Slightly longer and less boxy than its predecessor, the 'Type 1', it cut a modern yet timeless silhouette that has continued to endure to this day. We've reinforced the seams with a triple stitch flat felled lock seam and made it more practical by adding two interior pockets for your everyday carry. A single box pleat with bartack stitch detail in back.
The Badlands jacket is exclusively Made In The USA from US sourced selvage denim and hardware thus honoring the heritage of the original style.

As availability of Cone Mills selvage denim dwindles due to the shuttering of the White Oak plant over three years ago we're finding it increasingly difficult to find stock. Fortunately, we stock piled quite a large quantity over these past few years and are able to dip into our backstock and offer qualities that are increasingly rare to find. This quality is one of them. A black warp x natural weft weave inspired by the black denims that you'd find in the 50's when denim jeans and jackets were practically outlawed by society and anyone who wore them were delinquents and outsiders. The 14oz weight is the heaviest that Cone Mills offered in this black quality which adds to it's status of rare Cone qualities. A natural selvage iD offers a clean contrast to the dark warp yarn face.
Jacket fits true to size. Medium fits 6'1" 165 lbs
